Taken together, these five short videos tell the story of Arghand's effort to purchase, ship and install a 5.2 kilowatt solar electric system, which became necessary when the Kandahar City electrical grid became essentially useless. 

 

For close to a year, Arghand members could not operate the eclectric seed oil press, which led to the temporary discontinuation of our body oils and fouled our expansion schedule for 2009. 

 

The solar electric project was an odyssey, peppered with mishaps , delays and frustrations.  But the patience and perseverance of our Afghan colleagues was inspiring; despite the myriad setbacks, they remained determined to move away from the darkness toward their own renewable light.
